Your gate won't open. The motor is grinding. The remote does nothing. Whatever the fault, your engineer will diagnose it and fix it — usually in a single visit.

Electric Gate Repair Service covers all types of automatic gates across Sussex, Surrey, Kent, and South London. Our engineers carry parts for the most common motor brands and can resolve the majority of residential gate faults on site, on the day.

What We Repair

Motor Failures

The most common fault. Motors wear out, capacitors fail, gears strip. We work on all major brands — CAME, BFT, Nice, FAAC, DEA, Beninca — and carry common spare parts on every visit.

Control Board Faults

The control board is the brain of your gate system. Water ingress, power surges, and age cause board failures. Your engineer diagnoses the fault and either repairs or replaces the board.

"Other companies installation" vs "Our installation" wiring comparison

The photo above shows the difference between a poorly wired control box (left) and our installation (right). Same components, completely different standard.

Track and Hinge Problems

Sliding gate tracks collect debris, rust, and misalign over time. Swing gate hinges wear and sag. Your engineer realigns tracks, replaces worn hinges, and adjusts gate geometry so it operates smoothly.

Remote and Keypad Faults

Remotes stop working because of dead batteries, frequency clashes, or receiver faults. Keypads corrode or lose programming. Your engineer tests, reprograms, and replaces remotes and keypads for all brands.

Photocell and Sensor Issues

If your gate opens but won't close — or closes then immediately reopens — the photocell sensors are usually misaligned, dirty, or faulty. This is a quick fix but left unresolved it means your gate is stuck open, which is a security risk.

Storm and Collision Damage

High winds, falling branches, or a vehicle nudging the gate can bend tracks, damage motors, and knock sensors out of alignment. Your engineer assesses the damage, straightens what can be saved, and replaces what can't.

Electrical Faults

Power supply failures, tripped MCBs, damaged cabling, water in junction boxes. Your engineer traces the fault from the supply through to the motor and resolves it.

Brands We Work On

Don't know what brand your motor is? That's fine. Your engineer will identify it on arrival.

How a Repair Visit Works

1. You Describe the Problem

Call, book online, or WhatsApp. Tell us what's happening — or just say "it's broken" and we'll diagnose on site.

2. Your Engineer Arrives

Dedicated engineer on every visit. They'll inspect the gate, motor, control board, sensors, and wiring to find the root cause.

3. Diagnosis and Quote

Your engineer explains what's wrong in plain English — not jargon. If parts are needed, they'll quote before ordering. If it can be fixed on the spot, it will be.

4. Repair

Most residential repairs are completed within the first visit. Your engineer tests the gate through multiple cycles to confirm the fix is solid.

5. Written Report

You receive a condition report covering what was found, what was done, and any recommendations for future maintenance.

Pricing

Parts are charged separately at cost. Your engineer will always quote for parts before ordering.

Frequently Asked Questions

How quickly can you get to me?

Standard bookings are usually within a few days. Emergency same-day callouts are available if we're in your area — call 07542 024681 to check. The online booking system shows the next available slot for your postcode.

Do you carry spare parts?

Our engineers carry common parts for CAME, BFT, Nice, and FAAC systems. If a less common part is needed, your engineer will diagnose the fault on the first visit and return with the correct part — you won't pay a second callout fee.

What if you can't fix it in one visit?

If parts need ordering, your engineer will diagnose the fault, quote for the parts, and return to fit them once they arrive. The return visit to fit ordered parts is included in the original callout fee — you don't pay twice for labour.

Is it worth repairing or should I replace the motor?

We'll always give you an honest answer. If a motor can be repaired economically, we'll repair it. If the motor is beyond repair or the cost of parts is close to a replacement, we'll tell you. We don't upsell — if a £30 capacitor fixes the problem, that's what we'll recommend, not a £600 new motor.

Can you repair a gate installed by someone else?

Yes. We repair gates regardless of who installed them. In fact, a large part of our work involves fixing problems caused by poor installations from other companies.
